2012 Registration is Now Open
Dear friends and family of The September Concert,
The time has arrived - though a bit late this year - to register for the September Concert 2012!
Our website
is open for registration, with an uplifting video clip of the Give Us
Hope performance which will give you a glimpse of what we are about.
We got a late start this year as we went through some changes.
The September Concert will now be under the wing of National Dance Institute (NDI) whose founder is Jacques d'Amboise (also
on our board), my mentor and source of inspiration for the past 20
years. NDI has been providing arts education to children in NYC and
nationwide for the past 35 years, and has been our partner since the
beginning. Their performance at the Rockefeller Center has become a
tradition and a great public display of hope and joy at every September
Concert.
So it is with much happiness and
appreciation that The September Concert will now be managed by people
with more experience in performing arts and working with children.
Please continue to support our
goal of spreading the spirit of peace and humanity through the arts.
NDI will take it further to add the opportunity for "children to
discover the arts through dance (and now music!) and develop standards
of excellence, a pride of achievement, and a curiosity about the world
that supports their success in school and in life." Our future is in
their hands.
As for me, I am stepping down as
Chair and a Board Member of The September Concert Foundation. After
10 years in New York City, I will be moving to Colorado for some quiet
(but always with music) time in the mountains. All I had at the
beginning was a laptop, an army of volunteers, and this dream of
filling the skies with music on September 11th. The rest would not
have happened without you. My life has been enriched beyond words
by your support and friendship. For that, I thank you from the bottom
of my heart. I will now be free to attend your concert, wherever it
may be!
Love,
Haruko
