How do we organize our own concert?
Get your performers together. Ask your friends/family to bring frineds/family. You can hold an intimate concert at home/backyard/neighborhood coffee shop or restaurant. It's better to keep it simple and not worry about a stage or sound system. The idea is to bring people together and play music. If you have a larger concert in mind, you might want to talk to a live house, church, school, library, etc. that already have a stage/sound system. When you have the details (time, location, program), let us know and we will include them in our Concert Listings. Be sure to sign up all your performers and your venue, so that they will all be listed also.

If I don't sign up, can I perform spontaneously?
You sure can. Bring your guitar to your neighborhood park. Or stand on a street corner. Go visit a nursing home. Now sing! If you want to perform in our public venues you do need to sign up by August 15.

Do I have to be a New Yorker to participate?
No, absolutely anyone can participate. Remember, a tragedy remains merely a sad memory if we don't grow something positive out of it. So participate and be part of the positive force. There are also people who are starting the September Concert in their home town. Click on "Start Your Own September Concert" on the Home Page to find out how.

How will I find out if there's a concert in my neighborhood?
Concert Listings section of this Web site are updated daily until the day of the concerts.

Where does my donation go?
We try to get as many services donated as possible, but it still costs quite a bit of money to successfully execute an event of this scale. From maintaining our web site and designing and printing promotional materials and advertising, to paying for sound systems, our expenses are growing as the event grows. We also want to help schools and community groups that need financial assistance to organize a concert. This amount depends on how much we are able to raise, and the level of community participation will ultimately determine the success of The September Concert. Every dollar counts.
